
Dr.
Kurtz is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who
specializes in the field of joint replacement
and revision surgery for the hip, knee, and
shoulder. He has received additional
fellowship training in minimally invasive
hip and knee replacements. He is a member of Tennessee
Orthopedic Alliance and practices at Baptist
Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
Dr.
Kurtz is a graduate of The University
of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas,
where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors
distinction. He then completed a residency in
orthopedic surgery at Vanderbilt University
Medical Center, followed by a subspecialty
fellowship in adult reconstructive joint surgery
at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. In
addition, he holds a bachelor's degree in
mechanical engineering from Rice University.
Dr. Kurtz is the Chief
of Orthopedics at Baptist Hospital and a member
of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons,
American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, the
American Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the
Society for Arthritic Joint Surgery, Mid-America
Orthopedic Association, and the Vanderbilt
Orthopedic Society. He has three patents regarding hip replacements
and continues to design techniques to improve
patient outcomes.
Dr. Kurtz is a native
of Houston, Texas and is married to Emily Graham
Kurtz, a Tullahoma native, and the director of
preventive cardiology at
Vanderbilt University Medical Center. They are
proud parents of two children, a girl and a boy. They
have lived in Nashville for 10 years and attend
Westminster Presbyterian Church.
